For all of those wanting a Camden update, here goes: Lately he's been eating better and people say he feels and looks heavier. (Thanks to Nana and everyone else who's been stuffing him!) And if we don't let him grab his utensils to eat, he gets irritated and fussy--he wants to do it himself, thank you! His OT is talking about getting him some adaptive feeding utensils to make it easier for him. He's also holding his bottle better (unfolding all his fingers onto the bottle). But the most exciting thing was watching him in the power wheelchair. He's had 2 PT sessions in the high-tech chair and Lisa was impressed with how fast Camden's catching onto the concept that if he moves the joystick a certain direction, that means he goes in that direction. Oh sure, he mostly did donuts in it, but it's a good start! And the focus will still remain on learning to walk. But Lisa's throwing this in for the meantime, to help him become more mobile and he seems to really appreciate it. Zoom Zoom Zoom!

Labor Day
We've been back for a week now from the beach. Nana and Gramps got the family together again at the condo for some good times, and to celebrate Nana, Gramps and Aunt JoJo's b-days. Happy Birthday, guys--we had a great time! :)

Hunkering Down
Hurricane Fay is finally gone! We pulled out okay: never lost power and no major limbs caused damage. Our yard is a lake, though! I don't know if you can tell in the one pic, but the water was up to my ankles.
Aunt Joani and Camden's cousins came over to hang out for a while Friday. They had lost power and we had lost our minds with boredom so it worked out well! Maddie showed us her latest tricks (see pic) and Jake cheered for "Hooo-ston" when we watched some football. We made lemonade out of our lemons! :)

Horsin' Around
Camden had a super-cool day today at daycare. There was a horsie, a pony and a petting zoo for the kids to play with! Camden took a ride on the pony to start, and then moved up to the big horse. He absoulutely loved it!! When he wasn't smiling, he was laughing and my little cowboy wasn't at all scared.
This was really encouraging to me and Kevin because kids with CP (once they turn 3) can start hippotherapy (fancy word for horse-therapy). There is something involved with riding horses that stimulates pelvic/hip movement and teaches CPers to walk. It's good to know that Camden will enjoy this when he's ready to start it! We're blessed. :)

Summer Fun
Hey all...know it's been a while since I've blogged. The recent "changes" kinda kicked the wind out of my sails. Hope you haven't given up on us! Here's some pics from last weekend when we got bored and blew up the pool for Camden to cool off in.
This past weekend we went to Tally to visit Nana and Gramps, catch up with Beth, David and Camden's Tallahassee Lassie Olivia, as well as Aunt Heather. I also "helped" Aunt Betsy throw a baby shower in Crawfordville (Camden just came for the food). But I was a bad mommy and didn't bring my camera. :)
As for Camden, he's really wanting to talk and is experimenting with more sounds every day. His PT is concerned about his weight and says if he doesn't start putting more on, he may have to have feeding tubes. But we haven't heard this from his nutritionist or GI yet, so I'm not going to worry about it. We're just going to stuff his face as much as we can!
