MRI Day

Well, the day finally arrived for Camden's MRI. Daddy could not get out of orientation (oh, by the way he's accepted a job as an art teacher--more on that later) so I was very lucky to have Aunt Joani come along and help. It was a long wait but the waiting room had a neat fish tank, fun toys and lots of cute kids all wearing cute little hospital gowns.
Camden did very well during the wait and got to play with Aunt Joani, take a ride in a cool car, and didn't fuss at all. We finally went back to the MRI room, and he got a little mad when they put on the heart monitor chest stickers (actually yanked one off!). But with a few whiffs of the gas, he was out like a light. The super-cool nurses were even able to get the rest of the labwork he needed to finish before starting the MRI so this made me and Joani very happy! The whole thing took about 45 minutes and it was hard to wake Camden up. He was in the middle of a sweeeet nap! And man, was he crabby when he finally did wake up. Aunt Joani drove us home while I tried to feed him, but he only screeched and hollered. When we got home, he gulped up a nice warm baba and we both had a long nap. Now he's as good as gold. We'll go to the neurologist in a few days for the results.
Thanks, Aunt JoJo for your help---you're AWESOME!! Thanks for letting me steal your pics too.

At the zoo!

Then on Friday, while Mom took Betsy and I shopping in Spartenburg, Kevin and Uncle Jason took Camden to a small petting zoo near Inman. Jason got some great shots of Camden getting up close and at times personal with the animals.

Lake fun

On Thursday, Grandpa rented a pontoon to take onto Lake Jocasse, which was absolutely beautiful! Clear water and not too cold, with water falls along the way you could drive your boat over to and check out. Camden was a trooper, about 30 minutes into it he started to really like it. We snacked on yummy food, swam, napped and explored water falls for about 7 hours! We were exhausted by the end of the day but it was soooo much fun!!

4th of July, Italian style

We are back from our vacation at Grandma's house in NC. The first thing we did when we got there was relax (Camden found the hammock!).
Together with Aunt Laura, Grandma and Grandpa took us tubing down the Green River. (Sorry, no pics of this)Camden went down in a raft with Grandma. He did not like it at first, but when he got acquainted with his surroundings (with the help of Grandma feeding him grapes) he soon became a little TOO comfortable and pretty much spent 2/3 of the trip in a huge nap. We were amazed that even though traveling through some pretty bumpy mini-rapids and sloshing through ice-cold water, Camden would slip right back into his nap!
Grandma and Grandpa are freshly back from their trip to Italy and decided to treat us to a 4 course Italian feast for dinner. 1st course: antipasto, which was gouda cheese, ham rolls and apples (the appetizer). 2nd course: a fettucine with broccoli, garlic and freshly grated parmesan cheese. 3rd course: pan-fried beef with mushroom sauce and seasoned potatoes. The 4th was a dessert that Aunt Laura made, a trifle with fruit, vanilla pudding and cake. We finished it all with Italian liquors. It was such a treat to pretend we were Italians!
