Horsin' Around

Camden had a super-cool day today at daycare. There was a horsie, a pony and a petting zoo for the kids to play with! Camden took a ride on the pony to start, and then moved up to the big horse. He absoulutely loved it!! When he wasn't smiling, he was laughing and my little cowboy wasn't at all scared.

This was really encouraging to me and Kevin because kids with CP (once they turn 3) can start hippotherapy (fancy word for horse-therapy). There is something involved with riding horses that stimulates pelvic/hip movement and teaches CPers to walk. It's good to know that Camden will enjoy this when he's ready to start it! We're blessed. :)

Summer Fun

Hey all...know it's been a while since I've blogged. The recent "changes" kinda kicked the wind out of my sails. Hope you haven't given up on us! Here's some pics from last weekend when we got bored and blew up the pool for Camden to cool off in.
This past weekend we went to Tally to visit Nana and Gramps, catch up with Beth, David and Camden's Tallahassee Lassie Olivia, as well as Aunt Heather. I also "helped" Aunt Betsy throw a baby shower in Crawfordville (Camden just came for the food). But I was a bad mommy and didn't bring my camera. :)

As for Camden, he's really wanting to talk and is experimenting with more sounds every day. His PT is concerned about his weight and says if he doesn't start putting more on, he may have to have feeding tubes. But we haven't heard this from his nutritionist or GI yet, so I'm not going to worry about it. We're just going to stuff his face as much as we can!

Way Down Upon the Suwannee River

From Orlando it was on to the Suwannee River (around Bell, FL) where Mom and Dad rented out 2 river cottages for us all to gather and relax in for the week. We had so much fun pontooning and exploring springs, fishing, canoeing, swinging on the porch swing, taking golf cart rides, watching jumping sturgeons, toasting marshmellows to Dad's guitar, playing cards and puzzles, and eating Mom's good food! Thanks, Mom and Dad for a time we'll never forget!

The Family Cafe Conference

Hey all! We have just returned from a whirlwind trip to Orlando and the Swannee River. We were in Orlando for the big conference for families with disabilities. It was wonderful! We had the chance to go to several different workshops and hear all sorts of speakers. Probably the most helpful were the ones on financial planning, school info and Medicaid stuff. Camden's PT Lisa was there and got the chance to show us an example of the next mode of transportation she is thinking of for Camden. Amongst all this important stuff we also got to sneak in some fun things too--Check out the pics!

Rockin and Rolling with therapy

Here's a little footage from Camden's last physical therapy session. We'll be going to a conference on disability next weekend in Orlando. There will be all sorts of booths with adaptive equipment, a Q & A session with legislators, workshops and tons of other families with disability. We're hoping to find another set of parents of a young CPer. We can't wait!! In the video you can meet his wonderful and amazing therapist Lisa--we love her!
